Triumphant Tuesdays
Hello!
Today truly has been a gift of a day. Monday was not my best day, It was a long day, full of feelings and things that I wish I could go back and rewind. Ive never felt the feeling of wanting to leave more than I did yesterday. BUT I know 2 things, 1) my parents never raised me to just give up and quit when things are difficult and 2) I cant leave, this is what I am called to do and this is where I am supposed to be learning to grow. SO to get into today, after yesterday Ive vowed to do better, bet better and truly give all of me to this. I have had moments where I did lack, did what was easy for me and hadn't been fully invested, and now I know, that is not how you serve the people here. They need all of me, not just a little bit of me. Today I felt really great presenting for the 8th graders! Savannah, Caitlin and I were presenting about Adaptability in our Character Traits session. I think there can be a bit of irony in this because this is what I am currently working on, being adaptable, not shying away from my fears, persevering and growing. I could really feel a connection with the students today when they walked in and I heard a few say "Alex! we missed you last week!" or "Alex! *insert high 5*" and just seeing the progress with how comfortable they are with someone who they only see once a week for 5 weeks is amazing. I loved just being in the classroom, presenting and seeing how the students are really grasping these skills and using them. I felt new pep in my step while presenting, which I hadn't felt in a while since being here, so I know that I am on the right track to keep this consistency going in my days. The students are the ones who need me to be on my A game (just about) every time and to be fully present for them.
Tonight at the house, it was my turn to make dinner and not to brag, but I made some AMAZING BUFFALO CHICKEN STUFFED PEPPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! first time making them and everyone loved it! I made regular chicken stuffed peppers and veggie burger stuffed peppers! It was so easy to make and really good! I would highly recommend for sure. But devotion tonight spoke to me in a way that just affirms that I need to give my all to this service and, in a way, to God. Christine read 3 things, but 2 of them stuck out the most to me. First, she read the story about the runner, Justin Gallegos, with Cerebral Palsy who became the first professional runner with CP for Nike. I saw the video of the runner receiving the news and it filled my heart with so much joy. It is such a great moment when people who work hard get to achieve their goals, they live their dreams and they just don't let any obstacles stop them. In his instagram post, he talks about how much of a challenge he has faced his whole life and that he will not stop here now that he's achieved his dream, he wants to continue the climb, the battle and to be the best runner he can be. He motivates me to never give up and keep fighting. The next was an article called 100% Rule (https://greatist.com/live/productivity-tips-the-100-percent-rule if you're looking for a little inspiration or food for thought) and it really made me think. "Ninety-nine percent is hard—100 percent is easy" this made me really stop and think. Not giving your all to everything is more exhausting than fully committing, but why is that? Well I think its because at time we will start it, it'll go good, then we get so close, cave and boom hit that reset button. After a long time of constantly having to restart the gym, restart eating healthier, etc... it gets tiring. So my goal for the rest of my year is to give 100% and stop only giving 99%, I think once that is done, things will be much better, much smoother, much easier to get a grip on and I will be much happier. I want to challenge you all, what is something you want to give 100% to? Do that, never look back and do that. Give it your all and see where it takes you!
Thanks for sharing my CAP y'all!
Until next time, Peace, Love and Blessings!
