Gods secret work
Hello!
Over the past few days, I have realized the silence and secret ways that God really works in my life. Monday was a day where gods hand was at play. Savannah, Jordan and myself went to an elementary school that we have been to just about every Monday for 6 weeks, and the resource director was away at a conference. We couldn't get our schedule of classes we were going to teach in, and we were bummed about it. Although, flexibility is key for what we do, so we said it was okay and went to go search for something that was left behind at the school. During our search, we ended up talking to the teachers who we finished working with, and something truly special came from that conversation. Both teachers spoke to how well their students took to the content we presented to them, and how they hear the difference in the way their students throw around the phrases "I'm being bullied" or "Your a bully", and that really showed how effective what we do really is. More importantly, it showed that the kids really wanted to listen, they wanted to learn and they are seeking the growth. So for not being able to teach students that day, which was upsetting, what we got out of going to school was the proof that what we are teaching, what we are doing really does matter and helps students in more ways that we would typically see or know. Next, we were going to be headed to a school on Tuesday, so savannah and I were preparing everything for the school, but the teacher was going to be evaluated on Tuesday, so we couldn't go. Again, I was bummed because we couldn't go to the school, I enjoy working with the middle school students, they are funny and a great time. Yet god says there is a method to all of this. We ended up going to a different school on Tuesday, which savannah and I will be closing out the final day on November 13th, and it was great for us to get acquainted with the students and them to meet us.
There is something truly remarkable in trusting that God is always with you, always working even when things in life don't seem like they are working to us. Our perception of what is going on, at times, can be very limited to just seeing that something isn't going the way that we expected it to go, we get frustrated and think negative thoughts. Its human nature that when things don't go our way, we tend to get upset and wish things had gone differently. Yet I'm learning every single day that no matter how much we plan for things, being flexible and trusting that things are happening for a reason is the important thing to carry with me. Theres a passage in Jeremiah 17: 7-8, that says "But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." For me, I read this and it resonates with me so much. Trusting in God is never the easiest thing, especially in a world where we are constantly seeking proof, facts, evidence to support these claims and I think it is one of the biggest challenges for my year of service. I am someone who needs to know the plan, who likes to know whats coming up next, and that is not always the case with God. I didn't want to miss going to the schools, but I had to trust that everything is happening for a reason. These past three days have felt very stress free, happy and different, and I can attribute this to really trusting in Gods plan (no pun intended) for me. Kathy, a housemate of mine, had a great revelation while on her daily walk and the quote is "I am grateful for my CAP community who challenge me to question 'why am I here?', I am grateful for my participants who remind me 'why I am here.'" This idea really sits with me because I am so grateful for the CAP community who sometimes (indirectly) challenge me to question "why am I here?", but I am thankful for my students showing me why I am here.
The point for this quote is to show that God is giving us the challenges sometimes to make us question why we are here and our trust in him. Then he will go on and give us reasons to be grateful that we are here.
Thank you for tryin on my CAP! Enjoy the picture of goats out on a gorgeous day today!
Until next time Peace, Love and Blessings
