Monday

Hi y'all!

I hope you are all doing well! I wanted to tell you about my past Monday at the elementary school I go to. I can truly say that going to this school is such a blessing and a perfect start to every week! Walking in at 8:30am to my first kindergarten-1st grade class, and to see their faces light up with excitement is truly something special. This kids show me why I need to be here, why I am called here and how important these kids are in my life. Last Monday, I walked into my first of two third grade classes, and it was unlike any other day. The students had learned, over time, that I can dance. Well this class, they had been working super hard all morning and the teacher thought it would be good to get the kids up and moving. What better way to do that then dancing! So I was first taken aback because I have never actually tried to teach anyone younger than like 15 how to dance, so I was like "uhhhh what am I going to teach these kids?" Well did they have answers for that, they had all these dances they wanted to show me (yes they were 99% Fortnite dances) and then asked me to show them some dances too! We put on music and got everyone moving for 45 good minutes of dancing. After that I was off to my next class, ready to teach them math or reading. Well I walk in and walk up to where the teacher is, take a seat next to her and then she asks "so the class has a question for you, what were you doing on the other side?" so I explained I was dancing and just teaching fort nite dances to the other class. The teacher asked if I would be willing to dance and teach dance to her class as well. I was so overjoyed and ready to go. First, this teacher used this moment to give the kids a life lesson about making sure they ask questions and get information. She had them all ask me one question about me, my dancing or anything in my life, just as if they were going to write a report on me. It was so much fun being interviewed by 3rd graders and answering their funny questions, and their serious ones too! These kids had amazing questions, they had an amazing spirit and picked up the 3 step dance I put together on the spot! One of the funniest moments was when we played the song happier by Marshmello, and every student started singing, and blew the teachers mind. She goes "WHAT?! YOU ALL KNOW THIS SONG?!" and you could see her heart was full of joy. One of the kids also asked me why I danced. Why did I do what I do? did I want to go pro? and I honestly had to think for a second. Then it hit me, why do I dance? Well, I dance because it brings me joy but it also brings other people joy. One thing I have certainly learned is to give myself joy, while also being able to give others joy. Bringing others happiness, smiles and joy is what makes me happy. These kids, being able to work with them, help them through reading, math, science, any subject at all, to point where they understand the material, I can't even begin to describe how much joy that brings me. Service is joyous. I think one of the biggest things I've learned at this school is that no matter what, always go in with a smile on your face, an open spot in your heart and the ability to give your all, and things will always be okay. God is always asking us to trust, to lead with love, lead with an open heart and accept all people. He also wants us to serve our brothers and sisters in any way, big or small. God is with us every day, and we must always trust that he knows our plan, our way and just serve down here on earth. This school on Monday shows me how amazing God is and How I know I am on the right path.

Thanks for trying on my CAP y'all!
Peace Love and Blessings,
Alex
